About the Company

Brightwater Executive is delighted to be partnering with a leading cross border international investment organisation, operating and distributing across multiple territory pan-European locations in their search for a Head of Legal. 

About the Position

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this Head of Legal will provide expert legal advice, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and mitigate key legal risks while leading a small legal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the legal team, providing strategic direction and oversight.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
  • Advise the Board and senior management on regulatory compliance, governance, and legal risk.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and industry forums.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks within operations and transactions.
  • Prepare and present legal reports to the Board and senior management.

Experience/Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with 8-10 years’ post-qualification experience (mid/top tier firm or in-house).
  • European cross-border insurance or life assurance experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to offer a pragmatic, balanced perspective and proactive support of business opportunities.
