Brightwater Executive is delighted to be retained exclusively for this superb, newly created Head of Finance role. Joining a leading international general insurance group with its European HQ here in Ireland, operating through freedom of services, this firm has a presence in over 30 plus countries and has recently gone through a strategic milestone event.
Overseeing a large finance function of 10 + team members, the ideal candidate will have exceptionally strong leadership and mentoring skills. A strategic mindset with a natural ability to provide clear direction and ambition for the finance function’s current and future target operating model will be key, as they continue to evolve.

About the Position
Reporting into the Finance Director, the Head of Finance will provide a strong helicopter lens for the finance function, enabling support and guidance to the Finance function covering reporting and full management of budgeting plans, developing and implementing the strategic and operational plans for the function, along with key change projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for submission to the Group along with quarterly and annual reporting to the regulator.
- Lead out on the monthly management reports, ensuring key financial KPIs and trends are identified, understood and shared in a concise manner for multiple cross functional stakeholders.
- Manager and oversee the financial planning - budgeting, projections and re-forecasting
- Lead out on the external audit process for both Statutory and Regulatory audits
- Oversight of all fiscal and tax reporting
- Ensure thorough preparation of MI pack decks to support all Committees
- Be a key sponsor of certain finance related projects, monitoring progress reports.
- Preparation of annual statutory reports under IFRS
- Lead, mentor and develop the team, ensuring attractive and engaging career paths and succession planning.
- Manage the treasury activities ensuring robust controls are in place. Ensure strong oversight of investment activities against investment strategy
- Oversee and manage appropriateness of the investment strategy, to optimize investment return
Experience/ Ideal Skills & Requirements
- ACCA / ACA/ CIMA qualified with ideally 10+ year’s PQE within insurance, with at least 5 operating at a senior management / head of level ideally.
- Solid understanding and skills in regulatory obligations of re/insurance companies
- Decisive, strong influencing skills and facilitator of proactive teamwork and collaboration
- Adept in prioritising and driving forward the planning and implementation of short to long-term goals.
- Natural leader with great interpersonal skills.
- Commercially astute with a proven ability to evaluate financial impacts on the business.
- Ability to conceptualize and lead with great energy and solutions orientated manner
