Head of Compliance
Brightwater Executive is delighted to be retained by a fast-scaling financial services group, for their Head of Compliance appointment, overseeing Ireland and their expanding European footprint, as they continue to scale and grow.
About the Position
The Head of Compliance will be responsible for overseeing and managing the compliance function for their European operations through an FoS operating model. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in leading a compliance framework, annual plans, onsite thematics (or assisting on these) and managing key stakeholder relationships with their wider group along with managing CBI stakeholder relations.
Key Responsibilities
- As a PCF 12 holder, you’ll be managing the day-to-day regulatory relationships with the CBI, oversee the regulatory risks across Europe, to ensure the business is compliant with all relevant regulations.
- Provide regulatory advice and oversight and ensure strong horizon scanning of upstream regulations from a local and European view.
- Ensure compliance activities are completed on time and within scope and be a strong and healthy compliance lead and advisor across complex compliance issues.
- Lead and enable a continuous improvement culture and mindset across compliance policies and frameworks.
- Develop and roll out training sessions for the wider teams across compliance and risk topics and support wider cross functional management teams in their risk management understandings.
Experience/Requirements
- Ideally 7 – 10 years of experience in a compliance role within financial services (ideally within insurance/reinsurance and or retail banking environment / or Financial Services - Compliance and Risk Advisory. A current PCF 12 holder or someone who has strong experience and is capable of stepping into their first PCF role.
- Experience in cross-border passporting within the Europe.
- Thrives in a growing, scaling environment and very comfortable with change
- Adept in managing and leading out on regulatory relationships
- Sound knowledge of risk management governance and controls with sound experience managing relationships across first and second lines of defense.
- Excellent communication skills and has a natural ability to distill complex info into user friendly format.
- 3rd level qualification with a compliance /risk or legal related qualification ideally.
