About the Position
Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller leads the financial accounting and reporting processes for Bord Gáis Energy (‘BGE’) and its subsidiaries, including overseeing and monitoring an effective governance and control environment. As part of the senior Finance Leadership Team, the Controller supports successful performance delivery by ensuring the highest level of integrity in the financial results. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong team leadership skills, deep financial control experience and a proven ability to optimise processes, systems and data to deliver streamlined and reliable financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting for the Irish legal entities by maintaining a strong financial governance and control environment
- Manage the overall delivery and consolidation of the period-end financial close process within Centrica Group timelines
- Coordinate and deliver external statutory and compliance reporting requirements
- Manage the relationship with the Group’s auditors and take responsibility for GAAP/ IFRS compliance
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior leaders across BGE and Centrica
- Lead an established team in improving Finance processes and procedures. Leverage the Group’s systems, data and technology resources in doing so. Be a visible and proactive leader in helping the team continually improve quality and drive efficiency
- Promote best-in-class performance management and development opportunities for our people and teams. Continue to build bench-strength, capability and succession
- Partner with the Sustainability Manager to prepare for CSRD.
Experience/Requirements
- Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA with 10+ years post qualification experience
- Experience in finance leadership roles managing a medium to large sized team
- Experience in energy retail, trading or generation would be a distinct advantage.
- Positive impactful leader who proactively develops people and strong teams
- Track record of leveraging processes, systems and data to deliver efficient and reliable reporting
- Ability to analyse and solve complex business problems
- Strong business acumen and customer orientation
